Networking

COMPASS features the ability to network the application across multiple computers. This allows all campaign and schedule information to be stored on a shared, central database. Each time a user creates a new campaign or modifies an existing one, the information is immediately available to all users on the network who have adequate permission.

COMPASS supports two types of network, the Local Area Network (LAN), and the Wide Area Network (WAN). To keep things simple, a LAN consists of computers in your office that are connected together in one of two ways: via a router or on what is known as a peer-to-peer network. The WAN is the Internet. The advantage of the WAN is it allows an agency representative with his laptop in the field to communicate with the database at the office via a wireless (Wi-Fi) connection.
